Electric vehicle government grants

Supporting our mission to make the UK greener, the Government offers grants to individuals or businesses looking to get electric vehicle chargers installed at their home or company premises.

EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets


The EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets will give money towards the infrastructure small to medium businesses need to ready their workplace for electric vehicle charging.


You can claim up to £15,000 towards chargers, as well as for the installation.


For charging infrastructure - businesses can get up to £500 for each parking space that the charging infrastructure will provide a unique chargepoint socket to, either from installed chargepoints or those that will be installed at a future date via the future connection locations.


For chargers - businesses can get up to £350 towards the cost of buying and installing each charger

OZEV grants have changed



Changes to OZEV grants came into effect on 1st April 2022. The new criteria is included below:

  • Homeowners

    The current homecharge scheme (OLEV EVHS) providing a grant of £350 to homeowners runs until 31 March 2022. 


    The new scheme is available to registered businesses or public authorities only.


    Building owners

    • Up to £350 per socket is available
    • Up to £70,000 in total (limited to 200 applications)
    • Must have private parking
    • Includes landlords and social housing providers

    Apartment block owners

    • Up to £30,000 per building
    • Limit of 30 applications per year
    • Up to £850 per bay
    • Up to £500 per bay for supporting infrastructure to allow a charge point to be installed at a later date
    • Must have private parking
    • Minimum 5 bays must be for EV charging (at least one with a charge point installed)
  • Workplaces
    • Up to £350 per socket  is available
    • Up to £14,000 in total
    • Must be registered with Companies House or have a VAT registration
    • Must be able to provide private parking for staff  use only
  • Small accommodation businesses & charities
    • Up to £350 per socket
    • Up to £14,000 in total (limited to 40 applications)
    • Must be a registered charity or accommodation business with less than 250 employees
    • Must have off-street parking for staff or visitors
  • For owners of commercially let properties
    • Up to £350 is available per socket
    • Up to £35,000 in total (limtied to 100 applications)
    • Must be a registered business or a public authority. Private entities muct be registered with Companies House, have a VAT registration, or be a private registered provider of social housing
    • The charge point must be installed in private parking space that is reserved for staff
  • Small, Medium Enterprises
    • Up to £850 is available per parking bay
    • Up to £15,000 in total per building (limited to with 5 applications)
    • Up to £500 per bay for supporting infrastructure to allow a charge point to be installed at a later date
    • Must be a registered with Companies House or have a VAT registration
    • For businesses with less than 250 employees
    • Must have private parking
    • Minimum 5 bays must be for EV charging (at least one with a charge point installed)
